About Us

Riverway to the Sea is a dynamic new organisation dedicated to understanding and confronting the racist ideology of Zionism through comprehensive legal education, robust critical debate, and the strategic coordination of international legal actions. Our core mission is to challenge state practices that violate international human rights and humanitarian law, ultimately contributing to the liberation of Palestine and the emergence of a single, democratic Palestinian state of all its citizens in the ashes of the failed, fascist experiment currently known as ‘Israel’.

Our mission is to empower a diverse range of stakeholders, including lawyers, trade unionists, academics, students, and activists, by providing them with the knowledge and tools necessary for informed action, in and beyond the courtroom. This empowerment is achieved through a variety of engaging formats:

  • Seminars: In-depth sessions exploring specific legal issues and their application to the Palestinian context.
  • Legal Training Workshops: Practical, hands-on workshops designed to equip participants with the skills needed to navigate law and advocacy in the course of confronting Zionism.
  • Public Forums: Open discussions and presentations that foster critical thinking and public awareness of the legal dimensions of the Palestinian struggle.
  • Expert-Led Briefings: Concise, high-level updates and analyses from leading legal minds on current developments and strategic considerations.
  • Participant-led reading groups: facilitated exploration of key texts aimed at conceptualising and confronting Zionism in the context of legal, political and industrial struggles.

Our work is fundamentally geared towards holding state and corporate actors accountable for their complicity in and perpetuation of grave violations of international norms. These violations include, but are not limited to, apartheid, genocide, occupation, racial segregation, colonialism, human rights breaches, and settlement expansion. By meticulously studying and challenging these breaches, we seek to contribute to the coalition that aims at dismantling systems of injustice and securing a future grounded in international law and justice for all.

Based in Britain, Riverway to the Sea operates with a global outlook, collaborating with partners across Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South. This international network allows us to offer a vital platform for:

Coordinated Legal Challenges: Unifying efforts to pursue strategic legal actions against those enabling or perpetuating violations.

Knowledge Exchange: Facilitating the sharing of expertise, research, and best practices among legal professionals and advocates worldwide.

Principled Resistance: Supporting and amplifying resistance to systems of apartheid, forced displacement, and militarised control through legal avenues.

In particular, it is clear that ‘Israel’, Zionism and Zionists are vulnerable to challenge in a wide range of legal contexts, including: Employment Tribunal proceedings, asylum claims representing Palestinian and anti-Zionist Jewish claimants, defamation, regulatory proceedings (GMC, SRA, BSB, Charities Commission, TRA etc), public law, and even criminal law.

We invite individuals and organisations committed to justice to join us in cultivating a powerful global movement. This project is built on the unwavering principles of legality, ensuring all actions are grounded in international law; transparency, promoting openness and accountability in all our endeavours; and solidarity, fostering a united front in the pursuit of human rights, self-determination, and full liberation from Zionism for all people in Palestine, from the river to the sea. Together, we can pave the way for a more just and equitable world.

Riverway Law to become the Legal Arm of the Newly Instituted Riverway to the Sea Amid Threatened Proscription of Palestine Action

LONDON, UK — In response to escalating repression and growing global momentum for justice in Palestine, Riverway Law today announces its transformation into the legal arm of the newly launched Riverway to the Sea — a movement-embedded legal organisation committed to confronting Zionism through strategic litigation, legal education, and international coordination.

This shift comes amid the UK government’s threats to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation — a dangerous authoritarian escalation targeting anti-colonial resistance and the legal and political spaces that support it. In this context, Riverway to the Sea is not just timely — it is essential.

“We are entering a new chapter where the law is not simply a profession, but a tool of empowerment, resistance, and transformation. Riverway Law stands ready to meet this moment with clarity, courage, and unity,” said Fahad Ansari, solicitor and director of the organisation.

In recognition of the extraordinary demands posed by what can only be described as an era of live-streamed genocide, the organisation has moved beyond the conventional solicitors’ firm model. The traditional solicitors’ firm model—rigid, hierarchical, and often detached from movement realities—is no longer sufficient to meet the urgency or complexity of the legal challenges before us.

As a result, we are proud to announce that Riverway Law is undergoing a transformative transition. The new Riverway Law Centre will abandon traditional divisions between barristers and solicitors in favour of a unified legal formation embedded within a global movement —one that enables cross-functional expertise, collective strategy, and a direct line between legal practitioners and the communities they serve.

“From the picket line to the courtroom, we are forging new tools of resistance. The Centre is where radical legal education meets organised action — a place where the law becomes a living weapon in the struggle for liberation,” said Franck Magennis, barrister and director of the organisation.

Riverway to the Sea will provide radical legal education through seminars, workshops, reading groups, and public forums, while Riverway Law Centre will serve as its operational litigation wing — driving coordinated legal challenges against apartheid, genocide, and state-sponsored racial violence.

With partners across Europe, the Middle East, and the Global South, Riverway to the Sea will soon convene a global legal roundtable with legal teams from multiple jurisdictions to strategise collective approaches to confronting Zionism and defending anti-colonial resistance under threat.

From Britain to Palestine, from the courtroom to the streets — Riverway Law is forging a legal front within the global movement for liberation.
